The red carpet treatment
A Science Council and Institute of Physics commission to design an A3 poster with a difference. A call to action to encourage teachers and pupils to make shortfilms for the prestigious PLANET SCICAST film awards.
Science teachers are the primary audience but the brief was also to ignite the interest of their young students. On the front of the poster a circa 1970s teacher wielding a cine camera – a tongue-in-cheek image reflecting the fun and entertaining nature of the SCICAST project. This photography combined with an unusual die cut and gloss spot varnish, ensure this poster stands out on cluttered school notice-boards.

Not just a pretty face
Good web design is not just about great looks it's also about how content is delivered to the user. An excellent example of this is the new SYNC INC site. They asked Sue to design a smarter site, one that allowed busy advertising creatives to 'drink in' their whole offering from just one page.
On first impression the solution appears quite simple but there is in fact a lot going on. Content elegantly slides across or animates down the page, and the video showreel is presented as a carousel. A discreet news feed ticker linking to their Twitter profile was also designed.
All animated elements of the site are built using JQuery so this is extremely accessible - allowing iPhone users to enjoy the site. Everything can be edited by the client using a friendly online system, developed by RKO Digital.
RKO did a brilliant job building this site - delivering on time, in budget and with a flourish.

On display
Design and production of a large format three panel display stand (illustrations by Milo). This comes as part of an ongoing campaign to promote to young people the Science Council's FutureMorph website. It follows hot on the heals of the design of several promotional give-aways – branded post-it notes, stickers and a series of postcards.

Picture this...
The brief for the Simon Smith Photography identity and website was to promote his fantastic still life photography but also to publicize the extensive studio facilities.
The portfolio pages have elegant animated transitions between images (built using the scripting language JQuery). Compatible with an iPhone as well as other mobile devices – making it more accessible than a site developed in Flash.

A bright future
November sees the climax of a long and exciting project – the launch of the Science Council’s FutureMorph campaign. Months of work cumulating in the design and implementation of an interactive CD ROM, numerous teaching resources and various promotional materials. To view a case study about this project please click here.
The aim of the campaign is to engage young people and encourage them to appreciate why they study science and maths in school and to understand the breadth of opportunities that are available to them. In short to communicate to young people that science is both relevant and fun. www.futuremorph.org

Style and content
A successful website launch for Mari Williams - the food stylist and writer. The design inspiration came from looking through American food advertising from the 1950s - this upbeat style expressed the personality of the client. The central site content, presented as two animated showreels, can be managed easily requiring no specialist skills by the site administrator.

It’s a wrap!
The website for the photographer Toby Scott goes live. A neat site - in size and functionality. The images in the Flash showreel are easily updated by Toby, as are the client list and contact details. He can do this without any prior knowledge of Flash programming. RKO Digital did a great job building this site.
