PVC

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is the world’s third-most widely produced plastic polymer due to its durability, strength and affordability.

Since it is more affordable than metals and its lighter weight more cost effective for shipping, it is becoming more widely used in a variety of applications where metals were previously used. This includes commercial, residential, industrial construction and plumbing drainage. PVC can also be rigid or flexible.

PVC Pipes

In order to fulfill the needs and demands by our metals customers, Continental Steel & Tube has recently started to supply PVC. We are proud to offer PVC Pipe from 1/8″ to 24″ NPS in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 up to 20 feet in length.

Schedule 40 PVC Pipe can handle temperatures up to 140F and is the standard used for drainage and lower pressure water flow applications. It is designed to handle pressure applications as well as many chemical corrosive jobs and is mostly used for commercial and residential drainage removal. It also comes in standard 10′ or 20′ sections and is available in plain end or belled end forms. Pipe sizes range from 1/2″ through 24″ and adhere to ASTM D 1784 for physical dimensions and tolerances and are also NSF approved for potable water service.

Schedule 80 PVC Pipe can handle temperatures up to 140F and is primarily used for industrial and higher pressure water flow applications. It comes in standard 10′ or 20′ sections and is available in plain end or belled end forms so no coupling is needed for installation. Pipe sizes range from 1/2″ through 24″. The benefits of this pipe include ease of installation and many application uses. This pipe is designed to handle pressure applications as well as many chemical corrosive jobs, adheres to ASTM D 1785 for physical dimension and tolerances and is also NSF approved for potable water service.

You can find the same outer diameter in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC Pipe. However, the inside wall lining of Schedule 40 is thinner thus reducing its pressure rating.

The advantages of PVC include its lightweight design which reduces shipping costs as well as its easy installation properties.

We also offer PVC fittings to accommodate all your needs as well.

Fitting types include: Tees, 45-degree and 90-degree Elbows, Crosses, Couplings, Unions, Caps, Plugs, Adapters, Bushings, Nipples and Flanges.
